MedTechLabel project starts work on Unified Digital Labelling for Medical Technology Products

On 1 April 2026, Innovative Health Initiative  launched MedTechLabel: Unified Digital Labelling for Medical Technology Products, a three-year research project aimed at standardizing and harmonizing labelling for Medical Devices (MD) and In Vitro Diagnostic (IVD) products.

This unique public-private partnership comprises a 20-member consortium from 11 countries across Europe and the US, co-led by the University of Oslo (scientific coordinator) and Arthrex GmbH (industry lead). The project will develop the MedTechLabel framework specification that will harmonize and standardize digital labelling processes in compliance with EU regulations, while being adaptable to national variations, future legislation, and global development.
