Key Lessons Learned From the First MedTechLabel Stakeholder Webinar

Key Lessons Learned From the First MedTechLabel Stakeholder Webinar

The first MedTechLabel Stakeholder Webinar was a success! Here are 4 key insights we have learned from our event.

1. MedTechLabel’s mission is very relevant for the medical devices and in vitro diagnostics community

Many stakeholders seem to share the goal of having a digital label and associated labelling framework that combines several aspects: standards and regulatory alignment, safe use information, curated displays for different users.

2. Many use scenarios could demonstrate the real world usefulness of the labelling framework

We received many ideas for potential other use scenarios from our audience, covering conformity assessment, diverse stakeholder information needs, post-market activities and much more. This confirms that digital labelling is a topic with real-world relevance for many stakeholders.

3. Many different pieces of information could potentially be included on the digital label

The wish list of information that would be good to have on all medical devices and in vitro diagnostics is long and diverse. It spans core regulatory and identification data, use instructions and supply chain information, just to name a few. This puts pressure on the space on printed labels. The unified digital labelling framework comes in here to provide more and more relevant information without cluttering printed labels.

4. Stakeholders want to engage

In our Forum for Digital Medical Labelling, stakeholders would like to find updated information and guidance on labelling and its regulation and standards. Having a place to test approaches anchored in real world scenarios is also key, to ensure the labelling framework is useful to the community.
